West Coast Express Santa Trains

We love this great family activity! December 6th, or December 13th, bring an unwrapped toy to the West Coast Express and ride the train (with Santa!) for free. The train leaves Mission at 10am, picking up passengers along the way and then heads back home from downtown at 5pm which leaves lots of time for checking out the festive displays at Canada Place, and even doing a bit of holiday shopping. Every kid walks away with an achievement pin, kid-sized Home Depot apron and a finished project (they’ve had things like birdhouses, piggy banks, boats and hockey frames). Kids’ Swapmeets

No, you don’t get to swap your kids, but you do get to grab some great “gently used” clothes, gear, books and toys. There’s usually lots of new stuff too. This weekend there are two good swapmeets. The first is the Cloverdale Swapmeet, Saturday, Oct. 18, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Cloverdale Fairgrounds. The second is the Burnaby Kidstuff Swapmeet, Sunday, Oct. 19, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Bonsor Recreation Complex, 6550 Bonsor Ave., Burnaby with more than 70 tables. Admission is free (donations to the food bank greatly accepted).
